Carmen Braden presents an afternoon of musical improvisation

About

Join the PWNHC and Carmen Braden for a musical improvisation workshop and concert on January 14, 2023.

Workshop from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm

Use your voice! Join Sbot N Wo artists WL Altman and Helen Pridmore for a musical workshop in improvisation. Combine your voice with computer programming to create music. No musical, improvisational or technical skills required!

Participants are invited to bring song inspiration, an idea to try out, or just come and improvise.

The workshop will include:

  • Simple vocal work, exploring what voices can do
  • Improvisation games to get us warmed up, including movement + voices.
  • A look at computer software that can play with sounds
  • Demonstrations on how to make some simple sound effects happen in real time using software

Participants trying live transformations by singing a song they already know while WL transforms their sound, or trying improvisation with Helen as a guide

The session will end with a group improvisation using both our voices and the computer

This event is free of charge. Registration not required.

Concert starting at 2:30 pm

The voice and electronic due Sbot N Wo present a concert of semi-structured improvisations based on the human voice – the original instrument – transformed live into a huge range of atmospheric, rhythmic, otherworldly soundscapes.

This event is free of charge.
