A Place of Honour

It has long been a practice in many Canadian jurisdictions to name geographical features in honour of men and women in the Canadian Armed Forces who died in service of their country.  In the Northwest Territories, 116 lakes, rivers, capes, bays, and points bear the names of servicemen, lost naval vessels, commanders, and battles from World War II alone. This 2011 virtual exhibit locates and provides detailed background information on these names.
