A Northern Experience: The Journals of Norman Robinson

This online exhibit presents the journals of Norman Lubbock Robinson, a World War One veteran who spent five years in the Northwest Territories in the early 1920s. Born in Ireland, Robinson spent two years working for the Northwest Mounted Police before joining the army in 1914. Upon his return to Canada following the end of the war, Robinson travelled to the NWT and worked as a trapper, a guide, and a purser on the steamer “Mackenzie River.” He documented his journeys in five beautifully assembled journals, which were acquired by the NWT Archives from Aquila Books (Calgary, Alberta) in March, 2002.
