Turilı̨ / Johnny Hoe Fishery
Turilı̨ is a traditional domestic spring fishery and the traditional territory of the Turilı̨ Got'ine. Elders say that in the old days Tłı̨chǫ would build fish weirs on the east side while Sahtúot'įne would build on the west. When they met in the middle the event would be celebrated by a feast. Historically the area is also associated with a war betwen the Yellowknives and Tłı̨chǫ. It is said that Edzo (a chief of the Tłı̨chǫ) killed a group of Akaitcho's people. In recent times the river was found to be contaminated by mecury and has been abandoned by the people of Délı̨nę.
