Shit'a Got'ine Eht'ene / Trail to the Mountains
An important trail between Fort Good Hope and the headwaters of Tsiigehnjik in the Mackenzie Mountains. The trail was travelled by foot in the summertime and by dogsled in the winter and was used to access the winter hunting grounds of the Shit'a Got'ine (mountain people). They would spend their winters taking moose, caribou, and sheep. There are also many stories of meeting Gwich'in or Indigenous people from the Yukon here and celebrating with hand games, story-telling, and sharing.
