Commemorates the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Acasta, sunk on 8 June 1940 while defending the aircraft carrier HMS Glorious and HMS Ardent. All three RN ships were sunk by the German battlecruisers Gneisenau and Scharnhorst en route from Norway. There were only 3 survivors from 'Acasta', 3 from 'Ardent' and 43 from 'Glorious'.
