Travelling Exhibits

Providing northern communities with access to collections of the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre

7 exhibits are available for your community in 2007-08.

Exhibits are available to any NWT community from August until June.

Booking period is usually for 2 months

1. Close to the Heart
Our newest exhibit is a collection of 16 photographs from the NWT Archives illustrating the many ways of carrying children - from moss bags and blankets to baby belts and amoutis.

2. Rene Fumoleau Photographs
A selection of 13 colour photographs of people and places in the Sahtu (Fort Good Hope and Colville Lake) by Rene Fumoleau O.M.I.

3. Northern Architecture
A set of 9 framed sketches and photographs to show examples of unique architecture in the NWT from the late 1800s to present day

4. Travel Through Time
A collection of 20 photographs of northern transportation from 1901-1986. From ox-carts to airplanes, a wide variety of travel is illustrated in different northern regions.

5. Northern Homeland: A Century of Photography in the Mackenzie Valley
Our display consists of 3 portable panels. Over 50 photos show a variety of people, places and events in the NWT from 1901-2001

6. A Time of Change - Bern Will Brown Photos
A series of 24 photographs by Bern Will Brown illustrating people and communities in the 1940s and 1950s.

7. A Century of Northern Children
This exhibit of 16 framed photos takes a look at our northern children from various communities across the NWT.

How to make a booking:

Complete and return the Travelling Exhibits booking form. The schedule is made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Costs:

All shipping expenses within the NWT will be paid for by the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre.
