Community Programs

Introduction

The Community Programs Office of the Culture and Heritage Division coordinates a full range of professional services for individuals and organizations actively involved in arts, cultural and heritage activities.

Eligible Participants

Community-based NWT-registered organizations, local governments, band councils and individuals undertaking projects which will contribute to the creation, preservation, promotion and enhancement of the arts, cultures and heritage of the Northwest Territories are all eligible to apply for assistance.

Professional Services

The Community Programs Office offers planning assistance to community and regional museums, arts and cultural groups, and heritage or historical societies throughout the Northwest Territories who seek to develop facilities, program activities or projects. Technical advice, orientations, workshops and individual training opportunities in various disciplines may be arranged by contacting the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre in Yellowknife.
Financial Assistance

Contribution awards are typically made on a matched funding basis for eligible project costs. Applicants must have written verification of community support for their projects. Detailed program guidelines are available for the following:
