Dr. Norman Simmons
Dr. Norman Simmons was born in 1934. In 1969 he began working for the Canadian Wildlife Service in the Mackenzie Mountains, conducting research on Dall’s sheep and woodland caribou and designing a sport hunting management program for these species for the Northwest Territories (NWT) Wildlife Service. He also advised the NWT Wildlife Service on management of muskoxen on Banks Island. In 1975, he and his family moved to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, where he accepted the position of Director of the NWT Wildlife Service.

Cyril N.K. "Nordie" Kirk Collection

Cyril N.K. "Nordie" Kirk was born in 1911. Nordie Kirk wed Leona in 1945 shortly before they departed for his posting as Royal Canadian Mounted Police Inspector at Aklavik where he was the officer-in-charge. The Kirks welcomed a son, Brian, in 1947. In July 1948 they left their posting in Aklavik. The Kirks donated a variety of different item such as photographs and film which went to the archives as well as objects such as a dog whip which became part of the mueum collection.
